Appointments
The Director of the NAIS Center, in consultation with its Affiliated Faculty, will appoint students for the academic year. All enrolled graduate students at FSU are eligible for appointment. Appointments are renewable, provided the student maintains good standing and continues a research project with a significant contribution to NAIS.
Eligibility
NAIS Fellows must be enrolled at Florida State University, in good standing with the university and their department, and involved in research focused on topics associated with or in collaboration with Native American and Indigenous communities.
Applications:
To be considered for an appointment as a NAIS Fellow, please submit your CV along with a one to two-page, single-spaced cover letter to nais@fsu.edu. In your cover letter, include a detailed description of your proposed research, your interest or background in NAIS, the name of your advisor, and your current graduate status. If you have attended programs at the NAIS Center previously or have relevant experience from other universities or contexts, feel free to mention this. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis throughout the year, but spaces are limited.
Renewals
To renew your appointment as a Fellow, please submit an updated CV and a cover letter detailing your interest in having your status renewed. Your cover letter should also summarize the NAIS-related work you've completed over the past academic year and your plans for the future academic year. Please ensure your request for renewal is submitted by April 1.
NOTE
We understand that your research journey is ever-evolving and that your interests will change and become more focused over time. If you’re currently in classes, feel free to share your current research interests and any relevant coursework you’ve completed.
